Ras El Matn 1623
Ras El Matn, Lebanon – 2021
concept
The design was an answer to the client’s need for privacy from his adjacent neighboring villa, located on a higher slope. The house is designed in a linear form to take advantage of the horizontal façade length, and accessed from one side.
A central small courtyard, brings in the light and greenery into the core of the house circulation, creating a sense of belonging to the nature all around. The roughly cut grey stones form a base with a relation to the traditional construction methods of the area, allowing the upper volume to float and become the focal of attention. The exterior white stone cladding with seamless texture with the linear vertical windows provide insulation and simplicity, while the use of the slightly sloped red tile as per the local rules and regulations are hidden from the street eye level to maintains a minimal modern feel.
